The Corner House follows the logic of the best European bistros: warmth on the back, durability on the seat. The back is upholstered in a soft bouclé-style fabric in vertical flutes; the seat is in dark chestnut leather or faux leather, which takes the real wear. A contrast piping line separates the two.
Above the back, a brass coat rail on two brackets sits about 1,500 mm off the floor and 100 mm from the wall, so coats hang behind guests rather than on the backs of chairs opposite.
Construction. Rigid seat box, braced back frame, fluted fabric back over firm foam, leather seat on a solid deck, rail fixed into the wall structure.
Where it works. Bistros, wine bars, gastropub dining rooms and neighbourhood restaurants with a steady winter coat problem.
Options. Length, fabric and leather colours, piping colour, rail finish, back height.
